This position will be responsible for designing and developing systems that will support monitoring, metric collection, data translation, and other integration tools. The Engineer will work with architects and developers to understand requirements and build/test solutions, and will work with operations and development teams to create automated deployment procedures for Operational Support Systems (OSS). The position is also responsible for defining requirements for APIs that interface to/from OSS and Business Support Systems (BSS), and helping to implement those APIs. The Engineer will follow a collaborative process with architects to fully articulate the design of the platform. This person will document the required designs to make solutions available, including specifications, test plans, and training material. After the design phase, the Engineer will continue monitoring and consulting throughout the execution phases, including implementation and operational support. As a technical leader, the Engineer is expected to deliver and lead through others, as well as personally work to reach innovative solutions to business problems. The ability to teach and mentor technical personnel is required. The ideal candidate has a broad technical understanding of cloud infrastructure services, and possesses significant additional depth in at least one discipline. This particular position will focus on software that supports monitoring, data collection, billing mediation, and other OSS/BSS systems and capabilities. Experience/Skills: Engineering degree desired (BS/BA in computer science) and five to seven years of increasing responsibility for designing, building, and supporting software systems. Strong candidates will have experience with virtualization technologies, high availability, disaster recovery, identity management, and information security. Experience applying this knowledge to support OSS/BSS functions in a service provider environment is highly desirable. Technical Expertise: Software application development in java, python, ruby Experience designing and using web services APIs (RESTful, SOAP) Linux system administration and application deployment/support Linux scripting/automation in perl, python Database administration experience Reporting and operational dashboards Configuration management tools (puppet, chef) Familiar with PaaS solutions and cloud-based application development/deployment Release management experience, especially in an operational setting Automated deployment frameworks, continuous integration platforms Agile software development experience highly desired Non-Technical Requirements: Ability to communicate technology strategy and architecture approach to developers, management, and Cisco partners Solid understanding of IT systems development process, including architecture, design & engineering, development, and operations Experience working within an ITIL-based organization (training/certification a plus) Prior operational responsibilities are highly desirable Technology leadership skills to include coaching/mentoring/teaching, critical thinking/judgment, facilitation and leading change   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
