The databases include indicators on the quality of regulation in over 183 countries, surveys of business opinion, and law libraries. One of these sites the Doing Business Database is one of the busiest public databases operated by the World Bank Group. The Unit offers a dynamic and fast-paced working environment. The ITSOP- DDS web platform is sophisticated, using cutting edge database and web-programming technologies. It is very large in scope and visibility, and calls for a skilled application developer with good time management skills. As the development team is small, the position will suit a highly motivated and versatile candidate who can demonstrate relentless attention to detail, guide projects from conception to completion, and who can communicate with non-technical clients. Responsibilities: Under the general supervision of ITSOP- DDS staff, the application developer will assume the following responsibilities. Some specific responsibilities would include assisting the team with enhancements to existing systems and bug fixing. The developer will also be involved in the designing and development of the economy and regional profile reports for Doing Business. Some other responsibility would include: Develop and maintain computer programs that integrate many interrelated systems and program elements Help with ongoing site maintenance and troubleshooting Assist users in acceptance testing Competencies: Strong theoretical background and substantial experience in information technology, particularly in programming Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in the development and implementation of systems of moderate size/complexity Ability to handle tasks independently with little or no supervision Strong communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to advise and train users in the use of complex systems/applications and effectively prepare specifications and other written reports/documentation in a clear, concise style Interest in learning and adapting to new and evolving technologies Strong attention to detail Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment Selection Criteria This position requires a seasoned programmer with the following skills: A Bachelor and/or Master of Science degree in computer science or a related field Detailed understanding of object oriented programming techniques, including design patterns and Agile development methodologies At least 5+ years of experience programming with Microsoft technology and should have extensively worked in.NET technologies, including ASP.NET and C# Expertise with databases (including Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and Transact-SQL), creating and performance-tuning of stored procedures, and SQL functions HTML, XML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX Controls experience Experience creating reports with reporting tools such as SSRS, Office Writer   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
