JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CONTRACT PROGRAMMER The contract programmer will be assigned to work on one short-term project. The project will span a period between 2 to 4 months to complete. The contract programmer will create advanced SQL queries, write Java code, run tests to ensure quality assurance as necessary. The project deliverables will be a standalone application that lives in an AWS cloud instance that generates a csv file based on the input of a list of URLs. DUTIES FOR CONTRACT PROGRAMMER The contract programmer will design and write software in Java. Other duties may include writing advanced SQL queries. The contract programmer will generate a standalone application that can be spun up at any time to generate the desired csv file. They are responsible for ensuring the program functions as intended, which is to ascertain the mobile friendliness of a URLs content. The computer programmer will update the code to make any necessary changes requested by WGU, the employer. JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR CONTRACT PROGRAMMER The applicant must demonstrate advanced experience in writing Java code, and capable of completing the project requirements within application performance constraints and short-term project period. Provide all source code related to any SQL, Java source. SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS Imperative Requirement: Write code in Java and or SQL that will import data from a CSV file and record the results, such as, Yes or No, which will reflect whether a URLs web content is mobile compatible & mobile friendly or not. Results may also include a snapshot of the landing page that the URL redirects to. A standalone application will be developed in the AWS cloud that will accomplish said Results output. Detail 1: CSV raw data files will contain a list of URLs. There may be other columns in the csv file, like, metadata that describes URL, but metadata columns can be ignored. The URLs is what will be imported into a Java object, such as, a Dictionary object. Detail 2: Said Dictionary object will be iterated across. For each singular iteration, SauceLabs built-in functionality would determine if a URLs web content was mobile friendly/mobile compatible. The result of each iteration would be stored in a separate results file. Detail 3: There are tests of mobile compatibility/friendliness which will be tested on 4 main devices: (A) Android phone OS 5 or higher (B) Android tablet OS 5 or higher (C) iPhone iOS 10 or higher (D) iPad iOS 10 or higher. Each link will receive a total of 16 mobile compatibility tests, as each device will be tested on a recent version of Safari, Firefox, Chrome and IE.
