About the job: This engineer will be working hand-in-hand with our Clients current principal engineer to build cloud native services deployed in AWS on top of a legacy application – the team motto is bringing new technology & modernization to our Clients legacy application stack. This software engineer will be required to understand Legacy applications, have exposure to Web Services, and understand complex database structures. The candidate will work collaboratively with stakeholders and team members to develop enhancements in accordance with architectural technology standards. The candidate will analyze business requirements, create test scenarios and test cases, and execute functional, regression, and system tests. Mentoring new and junior developers will be a fundamental part of this role. Required Skills: 1. Bachelors or Masters degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience. Generally, 5+ years of professional experience. 2. Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills. 3. Proficiency in multiple programming languages and tools such as Python/Java/.NET. 4. Cloud-based Web Service (AWS) and RESTful API experience. 5. SQL proficiency. 6. In-depth knowledge of data structures and ability to analyze data to solve problems. 7. Proficient in negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills. Proficient in new and emerging technologies. 8. Thorough knowledge of layered systems architectures and layered solutions and designs; understanding of shared software concepts. 9. Ability to operate within an agile team as well as flexibility to be working on multiple projects. 10. Evaluate systems and make recommendations for improvements and solutions while bringing new ideas and improved technology to a legacy system and team. 11. Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirement.
