Software Engineers typically are involved in maintenance (including production support), enhancement and development work. Software engineers have a range of skills and knowledge of current technologies. They are able to utilize knowledge of theory, principles, or technology of specific discipline or field of specialization. Agency Expected Deliverables • Experience: Four plus years of experience • Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent technical study • Description of skills and knowledge include: • This is a professional level position which may require coordination of programming activities being conducted by the team • Confers with other business and technical personnel to resolve problems of intent, inaccuracy, or feasibility of computer processing. • Leverages excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop new business process and programming • solutions as directed by business and technical stakeholders. • Utilize deep modeling, design and coding skills. • Analyze and design enhancements, development programs, and/or required fixes to production problems. • Design applications to functional and technical programming standards. • Gather and interpret user requirements into design specifications. • Develop system specifications and interfaces • Determine time estimates and schedules for work. • Code enhancement and development programs and/or required fixes to production problems using the functional and technical programming standards. • Test enhancement and development programs. • Structured code reviews / walkthroughs. • Advises client or department heads on alternate methods of solving need or problem or recommends specific solution. • Create and provide content for operational documentation to Technical Writers. • Utilize configuration management tools, design tools, debugging tools, and any other environment specific tools • necessary to create, test, and implement an application. • Provides documentation according to agency standards • Support existing applications and provide production support when necessary. • Provide knowledge transfer at end of project Specific Skills Required (Programming languages, databases, operating systems, etc.) To support the Application Development Web/Client development requirements. This resource will be 100% dedicated to providing support for Windows and browser-based application needs for DHW businesses. While programing skills are required for this position, most time will be spent in problem resolution, upgrades, support, etc., especially while interfacing with facilities across the nation. Candidates for this position must be able to work in a self-directed manner. General guidance or directions are given by the customers, and it is up to the SE3 to identify and implement options. Scope of work includes, but is not limited to: analysis, design, programming, testing, training, system support, system upgrades, database support for applications (SQL Server), Beta Testing, software interface configuration, and laboratory instrument interface configuration. Expected Deliverables: Experience in Lyniate Rhapsody Integration Application coding standards and practices is required. Experience with Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR) and HL7 coding is required.
