This role leads key initiatives focused on inventory, workforce role and skills standardization, data lifecycle governance, and special projects. The position plays a critical role in advancing GIS-related VDOT Business Plan items and facilitating consistent, high-quality GIS data management across the organization. General Responsibilities: -Maintain documentation related to GIS governance. -Facilitate cross-department coordination to ensure consistent adoption of governance practices. -Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for leadership and governance committees. -Support enterprise GIS strategic planning and continuous improvement activities. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Knowledge of GIS principles, data management, and enterprise GIS environments. -Understanding of data governance concepts including stewardship, lifecycle management, metadata, and data quality. -Ability to manage complex projects, engage stakeholders, and coordinate cross-functional teams. -Skills in research, analytical thinking, workflow documentation, and process design. -Strong communication abilities, including writing governance documents and presenting technical findings to nontechnical audiences. -Experience with GIS technologies such as Esri tools, enterprise geodata bases, and spatial data services.
