Specialist level Business Analyst (BA) will work as part of the team that migrates the Health Net Federal Service (HNFS) Information Warehouse (IW) data structures from the mainframe to a Teradata V15.10 database. The following HNFS Information Warehouse components will be used in third-party IT vendor data center: Informatica PowerCenter V10 Extract Transform Load (ETL) tool Business Objects XI 4.x Data Access Reporting tool Dundas Dashboard Dashboard tool SAS 9.4 (Office analytics, Access Interface to Teradata) Teradata database V 15.10 Microsoft SQL Server database Typical Duties: Works collaboratively with clients and stakeholders - both external and internal to HPE team - to research and elicit, analyze, validate and document business requirements, and to ensure that those requirements clearly reflect true business needs, correctly representing all stakeholders. Translate business needs into system/application requirements and project components to help determine solutions to business problems. Assist team members in producing functional requirements for tool development. Proactively identify and manage changes to requirements and identify risks for HPs clients. Effectively manage clients expectations. Apply industry and information technology expertise to support proposals, feasibility studies, implementations and new business development. Profile and understand the large amounts of source data available, including structured and semi-structured/web activity data Work with business teams to understand and fill in gaps in the data, and/or to adjust source-system data structures to facilitate analysis and integration with other company data. Gather reporting and analysis requirements and translate into reporting structures data models, including aggregate tables, pivoted tables, and relational and dimensional marts. Use data mining techniques to analyze the source data and determine the best reporting structures to build Map sources to the target design using a variety of tools, including BusinessObjects. Collect, review and design business needs of data using flat files and web applications. Conduct test, troubleshooting, support, and capacity estimation from business standpoint. Conduct thorough testing of ETL code changes to ensure quality of data produced Provide day-to-day support and mentoring to end users who are interacting with the data. Skills and Qualifications Expertise with enterprise data warehouse projects using health care data. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to complex business issues, and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems / projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of multiple factors. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Leads and / or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Provide assistance in Project and product management related activities.
