Team focuses on VOD, electronic sell through and other video product assets. They collect millions of video events/day so candidates do need experience with Big Data / large datasets. They are not using a lot of Hadoop. More than anything, looking for expert level Java skills working with massive amounts of data. They are using Kafka but think an experienced Java developer can pick that up quickly. -Candidates must have strong communication, organization and time management skills. Will be providing oversights to more junior level developers to ensure theyre on the right path. -Looking for Java and MongoDB experience. Cloud-based experience is more important than MongoDB – they feel MongoDB is easier to learn so prefer candidates have the cloud experience. If candidates have AWS experience, thats nice to have however they are using Pivotal Cloud Foundry so ideally looking for experience with that but its not required. -Good design skills would be helpful. Looking for candidates that are able to help design the application, not just code. -They are a DevOps team so there could be some production support and/or testing required as well but primary focus is leading developers. -Shift is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Very rarely will they be asked to work after hours. -Candidates are expected to be onsite 5 days/week – they will make exceptions for inclement weather, doctors appointments, etc. but they will not be working from home on a regular basis. -As a lead, this person will be spending a decent amount of time in meetings vetting requirements and translating those into technical requirements. Will also be part of design/code reviews. Initially they will be hands-on in the code learning the space and eventually transitioning into more of the lead role they will be moving into. JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibility • Works closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. • These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organizations architectural standards. Involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget. • Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code. Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations. • Follows approved life cycle methodologies, creates design documents, and performs program coding and testing. • Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. • Design, evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that the team should be using to help solve problems. • Define and implement a structure and design framework including applications design; end-user environment; hardware, software and network environment; and methodologies and standards. Skills • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. • Typically has 8+ years of programming/systems analysis experience.
