This is a long term contract to hire opportunity in Washington, DC. WAN Engineer 12 month plus contract opportunity Washington DC location Candidates will have a phone interview first then a face to face interview is required. Main Duties and Responsibilities: * Candidates must have experience with the following: Cisco DMVPN, EIGRP, VLANs, VTP, ACLs and concepts of WAN optimization. * Under the supervision of the Team Leader of the Telecommunications Engineering Team (TET), the incumbent will be responsible for support of clients network infrastructure for Remote offices. This role applies expert knowledge and skills to track and resolve issues reported by the Remote Offices. In addition, the incumbent will provide user support for other Remote Access Systems such as Citrix and SSL VPN. The incumbent will also play a critical role in creating and disseminating reports on incidents and associated response times. * This position will be primary for support and maybe required to work after hours (8 PM to 4 AM) on site or under special circumstances from home. Key Areas of Responsibility * Experience working with Cisco wireless, DMVPN and WAN optimization * Responds to incidents received via ITSM tool, email or phone call. * Reports on incidents, associated response SLA, performance metrics and baselines of applications, networks for WAN usage. * Models and simulates network environments in the lab to resolve issues. * Monitors communications links and devices for failures and performance problems. * Coordinates operational support for remote offices including resolution of issues: user reported performance issues, problems with data network providers, routers and firewalls at remote offices etc * Enforces security policies, practices and guidelines as appropriate for IMF remote offices. Will also monitor and perform follow-up investigations on compliance violations. Qualifications: * Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications. CCIE will be an added advantage * Minimum 3 years experience in an IT networking role. Experience in supporting users on Windows platforms (Win 7 etc), Citrix, SSL VPN (Juniper) will be an added advantage. * Working level knowledge in the principles of Network Technology including in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite, Cisco networking equipment, and firewall/DMZ design and best practices. * Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and establish strong partnerships across the organization Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with other technical staff Desired Skills: * Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment when troubleshooting telecommunications, networking and workstation related problems * Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills Process documentation skills * Working experience with QoS, BGP, IPSEC, MPLS, MPLS VPN, SoHo deployments   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
