Job Description : Site Reliability Engineer @ JHI Terms: 12-month contract with potential extension Location: Remote to start & then onsite--151 Detroit St. Denver, CO. 80202 Overview of the Role The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is part of a dedicated Enterprise Cloud Service Management team that is responsible for the design, build and operational aspects of infrastructure components in hybrid cloud, reporting to the Global Head of Infrastructure Architecture & Cloud Services. The SRE role focuses on the reliability and maintainability of systems. The successful candidate will be expected to have a comprehensive grasp of application solution design in both public cloud and on-premises deployments and be able to apply engineering practices to run better production services. They will be able to engineer creative solutions to problems, strike the right balance between reliability and feature velocity and target appropriate levels of service quality. The role is fully hands on, with expectation that the candidate has relevant recent experience of working in SRE / DevOps space, managing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and having significant expertise in developing Infrastructure as Code using HashiCorp Terraform, alongside a broad knowledge of other relevant languages. Additionally, they will require the skills to collaboratively lead and mentor less-experienced operational resources through the process with a view to upskilling the internal staff. The Site Reliability Engineer will work primarily with JHIs Core Cloud Platform development team as their primary customer but will also be expected to liaise across all areas within the IT Department to ensure knowledge transfer and skills adoption and will work with other parts of the Business to meet delivery requirements. Main Duties and Responsibilities Support Core Cloud Platform requests for infrastructure component creation and management. Support ECSM objectives by adhering to or (in some instances) establishing SRE standards and patterns. Driving forward the implementation of CloudOps capabilities and identifying simplification / automation opportunities for operational processes. Engage in, or help develop, governance processes that ensure systems compliance to Janus Hendersons cloud computing policy. Provide technical leadership and consultancy at initiation and design stages within projects and other changes which impact the hybrid cloud platform. Write clear and concise documentation that is consistent with Janus Hendersons design principles. Work with project managers to ensure that project deliverables are realistic and achievable. Engage in research and development towards innovative architecture and technical solutions that may provide business benefit. Identify and promote innovative technologies that provide value as business enablers or create improvements in business process, cost, performance, and sustainability. Assist in the production of Janus Hendersons technical roadmaps providing guidance on short, medium and long-term objectives. Provide guidance and support to internal and federated Solution Architects to ensure compliance to expected technical and quality standards. Mandatory Technical Skills & Qualifications Significant and recent experience with Microsoft Azure in an SRE or DevOps context (preferential consideration to those coming from an infrastructure engineering background). Significant and recent experience with HashiCorp Terraform to a level of being able to develop code from scratch.
