The selected candidate will cross over into several areas of LifeRay specialization including creating web portlets, working with templates, portal identity & content targeting, social collaboration & integration, and content, documents & workflow. The selected candidate will work with the team lead to design and develop feature enhancements requested by our customer. The candidate will work closely with the team lead during meetings to implement the features currently under development. The candidate will leverage their knowledge and experience to add value to the customer and be recognized as a leader in this area. This candidate should have experience in the design and development of highly interactive and task oriented web applications for high profile clients. Will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and presenting interactive web projects to project stakeholders. Will be expected to take ideas from concept to reality by collecting requirements and working with other members of the team to design what is possible within the constraints of the project. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be a working technical lead -- enhancing and further developing a client communication portal. Some responsibilities are likely to include: a. Development of new portlets (Java, XML, web services) b. Modification of the Liferay open source portal framework (Java) c. Updates to the look and feel of the communication portal (CSS, JavaScript, Velocity) d. Providing training and demonstrations to portal users The web developer will initially work to create functional prototypes that display highly innovative, engaging, and user centered designs based on input from cross-functional stakeholders. The web developer will contribute to high level and low level technical design documentation, user guide, training material, and will communicate timely and pragmatically to other team members and supervisor on tasks/assignments, challenges, achievements and generate status reports Participate along with other team members in life-cycle software development process, including generating business requirements, design, testing, and implementation to create functional prototypes that display highly innovative, engaging, and user centered designs. Conduct a comparison between LifeRay & SharePoint and assess each platforms ability to deliver on the technical design a. Engage customer to understand existing capabilities, functionality and permissions; and identify areas within and outside of customer control. b. Understand capabilities, features and functionality for content management (authoring, editing and publishing) and non-technical front-end development. c. Gather cost estimates (hardware, software) and resource needs for building vision on LifeRay and SharePoint respectively d. Make Recommendation Communicate timely and pragmatically to other team members and supervisor on tasks/assignments, challenges, achievements and generate status reports Projected Level of Effort Required Qualifications Senior Java Developer with at least 3+ years hands on experience with Liferay Portal including: o Liferay Portal Administration o Platform administration through the Control Panel o Liferay Developer Studio o Installing & Configuring development and production environments. o Application design and development o Custom portlet design and development o Design and implementation of custom page layouts o Database configuration o Organization of users and pages across collection types o Configuration and custom styling of out-of-box applications / portlets o Integration with legacy third-party applications Experience developing ho   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
