This requires the ability to communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner. Decisions made may affect the project team and its delivery of the project. Decisions may significantly impact on negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, costs, sales, and customer perception. Success factors include demonstrating excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts. Major challenges facing incumbents are meeting goals for cost, reliability, and performance, and managing multiple priorities. This position must keep up-to-date on changing customer needs as the project progresses and provide guidance and direction on the project to less experienced engineers, technologists, and technicians. Incumbents may be expected to bear significant responsibility for completion of a project with major focus on delivery. Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: design and promote new components and sub processes; perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new products or processes; perform product maintenance; keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers. Typical Day REMOTE UNTIL RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED. Incumbent will be responsible for 3-6 CPI issues where as the C175 diesel platform representative will oversee the potential design change, validation, and timely implementation to address customer issues. Also, incumbent would receive and address engine build issues on the factory floor as they arise. As field issues are brought to the platform group, the incumbent will coordinate a team to investigate and address the issue potentially leading to a CPI issue being initiated. Within the engine application, changes to bill of material effectivity will be managed supporting material availability, compatibility, and factory implementation. Education Requirements: Requires a bachelors degree in an accredited Mechanical, Aeronautical, Agricultural, or Industrial Engineering curriculum and 5+ years of progressing work experience. Technical Skills: • Component design experience in NPI (New Product Introduction) and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments. Experience with engine performance/software Experience working on large gas or diesel engines particularly mining trucks and/or gensets Engine BOM configuration and systems integration experience with TeamCenter. Soft Skills: • Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills. Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
