Job Description In addition to the Business Analyst Associate responsibilities, the Business Analyst performs the following: Elicit and document requirements for changes to business processes, policies, information, and information systems for medium business problems. Use industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, use-case analysis, workflow analysis, functional decomposition analysis, and financial ROI modeling for initiatives that are at an intermediate level. Develop and elicit requirements of reports, processes, and departmental and corporate projects that are more complex in nature as requested by internal/external customers; prepare functional design documentation. Create traceability matrices to document testing results intended against business requirements recognizing discrepancies between business needs and deliverables. Design and implement and/or provide project support for cost reduction projects. Design customer feedback mechanisms to gather ongoing information about business processes. Analyze results and creates plans to address weaknesses and project realization by creating and adhering to a requirements management plan. Serve as a contact to other BCBSNC areas, providing operational data and/or process information in a correct, precise and timely manner. Assist less experienced employees and perform peer review of their work. Perform some training of less experienced employees. May be asked to perform certain leadership responsibilities. Develop and maintain reporting tools for use in ensuring data integrity and systems stability in support of operations management. Provide timely and accurate access to data for reporting inventory, productivity, user activity, controls and balancing, and system performance. They need to have extensive Excel, XML, and SQL experience. Experience writing complex queries. They also need experience using those queries for reporting purposes, manipulating large data sets. They need the ability to research issues and defects by tracking the data back through the code, via various tables, to uncover root cause. They candidate needs to be able to read and understand technical design documents and to approve those documents based on business requirements. They need the ability to communicate to all stakeholders, including business owners, vendors, and developers. They need to be able to offer design suggestions to the business owners, based on their knowledge of the system.
