This position requires extensive knowledge of GUI-based, public sector, fund accounting applications including human resources, payroll, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budget. This position creates computer programming code and maintains software applications by assessing requirements, building programming specifications, writing programs and implementing solutions as part of an overall project methodology and software development lifecycle. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Consult with others to gather information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, hardware and operating system environment and interfaces with other systems Design and write program code for enhancements and bug fixes based on consultations with supervisors, project leaders, business owners and end-users. Evaluate tax legislation, state regulations, and client needs in order to implement software enhancements. Analyze code to find errors and revise programs to resolve issues and for system enhancements Create unit test transactions and execute unit tests to find errors and confirm program meets specifications Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs; train end-users and technical support staff to use and support programs Interface with the user base and assist with second-level support. Interface with all levels of management, DOE customers including the Georgia school districts, state auditors, development team members, and vendors. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for this job. Job Requirements Experience, Skills, Knowledge: Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors Degree, Associates Degree, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline 5+ years of experience with Cobol development (PC based, ACUCOBOL, Fujitsu, MicroFocus, Windows Server) 5+ years relational DB (DB2, SQL Server, or similar) with knowledge of SQL 5+ years VSAM file manipulation Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Server Operating System and Windows bat files Knowledge of Visual Studio, TFS,   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
