Job Specifications

Product Specialist support for IMS Hierarchical Database and DB2 Relational Database Architecture

Position performs highly advanced technical work in mainframe operating systems and database management. Install and maintain mainframe database architecture of IMS and DB2. Perform advanced technical work to establish and maintain databases supported by BIO, which includes IMS, DB2, and DB2 Universal Database (UDB) for z/OS and NT. Support physical database design and development and implementation of database recovery, reorganization and backup procedures as well as the monitoring of database performance. Provide technical assistance to application developers for problems and procedures related to the use of all listed executive software. Insure systems have adequate resources to support the current operating environment and plans for new development and anticipated expansion of databases. Assist in managing the Departments DASD inventory to ensure that all production databases and systems have adequate resources. Provide technical assistance and problem analysis and resolution for the mainframe operating system and the listed executive software. Serve as the lead technical support for performance, design, and change implementation in the following architecture.

The contractor is responsible for completing all work assigned and follows the methodology described below.

Analysis - Research and analysis of software problems and new releases. Research and analyze impact of problem resolution and new release implementation on systems applications.

Testing - Conduct sandbox, development, system, integration and user acceptance testing of the system changes.

Implementation - Migration to the production environments and integration of all system interfaces, usually Sunday mornings.


Skill Requirements:

Positions have the following technical and analytical skills to perform administrative and maintenance functions on the following executive software.
IMS/DB, IMS/TM, DB2 for z/OS, DB2 UDB for Linux, Unix and Windows, ORACLE DB
IBM DB2 Admin Tools, IBM DB2 Automation Tools
Information Management System (IMS),
Application Debugging (COBOL/IMS TM & IMS DB),
COBOL/MVS & LE/370
