The Technical Writer must have strong skills in written communication. The Technical Writer will work collaboratively with technical subject matter experts and project leaders. Gathering technical verbiage and communicate this information for the layperson The Technical writer must be a self-starter and must be able to research thoroughly, and write in a simple, clear and concise language. He or she must also be able to work in an environment of constant change, to coordinate efforts with fellow team members and to adhere to production schedules and quality standards. Finalist applicants will be asked to complete a short writing exercise and take a written English test. Position Location Roseville, CA Candidate must be onsite, no remote. RESPONSIBILITIES Works with HP and client staff to gather information through interviews and product validation, then writes online help, release notes and highlights, user guides and other project documentation. Participates in regular planning and status meetings with other project team members. Provides regular status reports Performs other related duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree in a writing field, such as Technical Writing, Communications or Journalism; equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. Knowledge of computing principles and basic computing terminology used in describing procedures for using windows applications and web applications. 3-5 years of recent technical writing experience (at least 1 year in a corporate environment) 1 year of recent experience using a single-source authoring tool (preferably RoboHelp) to create online help Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, including editing and applying templates and creating and editing complex documents Expert-level proficiency with English grammar, spelling, punctuation and usage PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1 year of recent experience using a single-source authoring tool (preferably RoboHelp) to create online help Previous experience with public assistance programs such as Medi-Cal, Cal-Fresh,or CalWorks.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
