The DBA will aid the agency in upgrading its DB2 and related products such as Cool:Gen to newer versions. Complete Description: Unemployment Tax and Benefit systems are comprised of complex, business critical, highly visible database systems that must be supported. Complex operations and maintenance are required to ensure optimum performance. Two of the three current mainframe staff members within the UC database unit have indicated that they will be retiring within the next few months. The current staff lacks advanced IMS/DB2 skills to carry out the fine-tuning necessary to keep the current application running while the mainframe is phased out. A skilled database administrator is required to replace departing mainframe resources and provide knowledge transfer to elevate the skill level of the remaining staff. Specific Tasks: · Provide onsite maintenance and support to the mainframe test and production environments · Monitor and analyze mainframe CPU utilization · Perform IMS backup and recovery functions · Maintain jobs supporting backup and recovery · Bind/Rebind DB2 application plans, grant/revoke authorizations · Monitor log datasets to ensure online and batch updates are called into change accumulation · Create Data Definition Language for tables, tablespaces and indexes as needed · Compile objects using COOL:Gen · Perform space management utility runs · Resolve Help Desk Tickets · Document problem resolution and impart knowledge of advance data management to current staff members · In the event of after hours or emergency issues, OIT will notify the vendor of the issues and the contractor will respond within 1 hour of notification.
