The System Engineer would be responsible for defining the needs for a system, developing the system and deploying it in an operational setting and provide maintenance for it over time, all within time and cost restraints. The candidate would also be responsible for assisting and supporting policy making, planning, decision making and associated resource allocation or action deployment of projects. Medium level programming may be required (powershell, vbscripts, etc.). In depth knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows operating systems, other various Microsoft technologies and VMware virtual technology is required. Other duties for a System Engineer: • Install, configure, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems with Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010 • Perform system administrative functions on an enterprise level MS Exchange domain, including software support functions • Engineer solutions to business challenges • Introducing and integrating new technologies into the existing data center • Performing routine audits of systems • Installing and configuring new hardware and software • Answering technical questions and working with end users for tier 3 support • Responsible for documenting the configuration of a system • Proactive systems analysis • System performance tuning • Ensuring the systems infrastructure is up and running • Create and manage project plans • Provide thought leadership on existing or future technologies • Up to 10% travel possible • After-hours support is possible (with compensation) To qualify for this position, you must have: • Familiarity with Unified Communications and MS Lync with Exchange Server Microsoft Exchange-based messaging systems • MS Exchange 2007/2010 administration experience • Certification in MS Exchange 2003, 2007, or 2010 not required but beneficial • MS Distributed File System (DFS) experience • HP server hardware knowledge • Virtual technology experience (VMware is required, vSphere, Lab Manager, View) • Application virtualization experience (MS AppV or ThinApp is preferrable) • Active Directory experience is required • DNS/WINS/DHCP experience is required • Windows Server 2003/2008 is required • Enterprise tape backup experience (Commvault is preferable) • SAN technology experience would be beneficial (Hitachi and Brocade is preferable) • MS System Center Configuration Manager and Operations Manager knowledge would be beneficial but not required • HP Systems Insight Manager would be beneficial but not required • General networking knowledge required • Bachelors degree or 5 years experience required • MCSE beneficial but not required • VCP beneficial but not required • Strong verbal and written skills are a must • Strong organizational skills are a must • Experience with Microsoft Project beneficial   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
