Supplier Call Notes:

· Seeking seasoned DevOps Engineer. Do not send candidates who are not heavily seasoned.

· Must have experience doing lots of different DevOps activities within a cloud. Preferences would be OpenStack (Comcast uses) but AWS would also be acceptable.

· Candidate needs to have came from a development background – but more interested in cloud technologies. Should have heavy prior programming experience (C, Go, C++, Java).

· They run a large amount of Scripts and ever changing on what they use. Need a strong development background so they can continually pick up new scripting languages.

· They will do design, maintenance and support of DevOps applications.

· Needs to have experience with Ansible and tools like Terrform.

· Understand how a network is reacting and what needs to be maintained and updated.

· Seasoned Developer/DevOps Engineer.

· Tools required: Ansible, Terraform and Cloud Technologies (OpenStack or AWS)

· Linux experience preferred.

· No Remote work allowed (except for off-hours support) – work with development teams and DevOps teams who area all on-site. They white board issues together all the time.

· Need individuals that do not require handholding or need to be micro-managed. The teams have a lot of autonomy.

Day to Day

· Work with developers /development teams to see if that software can be deployed.

· Take that software and deploy it in the cloud infrastructure.

· Support if there are any outages.

· Complete design, deployment, installation, maintenance and support.

· On Call Rotation: 1 full week a month they will need to do off hours support.

Position Description

· Design, write and build tools to improve the reliability, latency, availability and scalability of IRIS platform.

· Engender reliability and availability starting with metrics and measurements

· Enable scaling by providing tools, developing training and/or augmenting processes

· Build tools/automate to prevent re-occurrence of problem to mission critical products/services.

· Augment existing instrumentation to build a cohesive picture of the characteristics of our systems with special attention to points of failure.

· Participate in capacity planning, demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.

· Design new tools to monitor and smart alerts that help discover failures/issues in a timely fashion and work with engineers to identify root cause and fix issues

· Influence, design and create new architectures, standards and methods for large-scale enterprise systems.

· Root-cause analysis complex problems involving multiple parties, networks, hardware and software that relate to scaling and performance

· Participate in on-call rotation.

· Secure the system from issues, be they real, perceived or notional

· High focus on collecting and inferring metricsExperience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef

· Build and drive the automation systems that maintain system health

· Eliminate Single Point of failure and test disaster recovery and HA regularly.



Minimum Qualifications

· 5 + years in a software development (GO, C, C++ Java), with 2+ years having moved into DevOps or SRE role.
