Description: Summary The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) is seeking an SQL Server Data Architect with a passion for database development and support. As a SQL Server Data Architect, the ideal candidate brings proven Database development and support experience and the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and fast-paced work environment. This is a hands-on, analytical and technical role, requiring strong Database development and support experience and comprehensive SQL Server expertise, preferably with Public Pension Management or Financial Services systems background. Responsibilities: The SQL Server Data Architect provides strong technical, analytical and presentation skills to lead and actively participate in Database projects. They are responsible for designing and building database architectures and solutions for VRS. They will consult with project teams, management and business partners on the different aspects of database processes; develop, optimize and maintains conceptual and logical data models; and implement and maintain the physical data model. The position may involve working on multiple, concurrent deadline-driven projects and support. The SQL Server Data Architect will work closely with Project Managers, Business partners and other resources during all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, and will ensure deadlines are met and output is of the highest quality. • Design and implement effective database solutions and optimal data models • Manage the migration of data from existing systems to new systems • Assess and recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems • Translate complex business requirements to optimal technical solutions • Provide technical expertise in SQL development and database optimization • Ensure the development projects follow the SDLC process • Work independently and in collaboration with the DBA and application support teams, lead database development projects • Create and maintain technical design and support documents Required Skills: • SQL Server 2014, 2016 or later • Proficient in relational and multi-dimensional data modelling and data modelling tools • Proficient in writing complex T-SQL statements and stored procedures • Advanced knowledge in Query Tuning and Optimization • Strong knowledge of database structure and data mining • Proven experience in data conversion and data transformation • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Ability to organize and plan work independently • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams • Ability to deliver effectively in a fast pace environment • Windows server 2012 and 2016, and Active Directory Preferred Technical skills: • SQL Server Master Data Service • SSRS, SSAS and Power BI • Tableau reporting tool • Data Wareho   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
