This is a highly visible application supported by various onshore and offshore application teams. The position requires a hands-on database technologist with both database administration and development experience. Also required is advanced expertise in performance tuning activities. Good written & verbal communication skills are needed to work with various project teams. The ideal candidate is a self starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently, and able to learn new skills on the job as project requirements expand. Primary responsibilities: * Supporting the day to day development activities by working with the application development team on database issues * Performance tuning/troubleshooting complex queries and server performance issues * Run system performance tests in the database lab * Recommend improvements in the reporting and batch processing code based on analysis of system snapshots and database logs * Participate in the production support activities on a 24x7 basis * Lead database code reviews Skills Required: * 3 years or more experience in the database development lifecycle * 3 years or more experience in design, development and support of large Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence related database applications * 3-5 years experience with ORACLE database administration running on a distributed platform * 3 years database programming including stored procedure and trigger development * 3 years ETL development and/or administration, AbInitio platform preferred * Experience with VLDB (very large database) environments * Strong SQL skills including the ability to rewrite complex queries to improve performance * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to prioritize, multitask and work with onshore and offshore teams Skills Desired * ORACLE 10g and/or 11g * AbInitio ETL development and administration * UNIX and shell scripting skills * Experience in a programming language is a plus   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
