These BI Data Engineers can be either Senior or Principal Data Engineer level: The BI Team size is 20 people and we focus mainly on Data Engineering (Data Science (machine learning implementation for business projects), Data Replication (for BI and other app teams), Data Warehousing (for reporting as well adhoc data analysis), and BI and Data Science Platform. Our tech stack/platform is Netezza, Informatica v9.5.1, Erwin v9.5, Python v3, AWS Redshift/S3/Kinesis and the must-have skill sets for these positions include: SQL, Informatica (power exchange CDC and Power Center), Netezza (also, if they know other skills listed in job description, it will be great/a “nice-to-have”). GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for defining, designing, and implementing data pipelines, data engineering solutions, and analytics components to support strategic initiatives and ongoing business processes for XPO Logistics. This role will develop solutions that leverage, integrate with, and expand upon the companys Business Intelligence (BI) platform technologies and patterns. This position requires a deep understanding of data consumers and how they use data to drive business performance and achieve their goals. The Senior Data Engineer will also act as a mentor to junior developers to help maintain a sustainable analytics ecosystem.. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 50% - Deliver and drive efforts in developing BI/Data solutions focused on Data Engineering and Analytics using Python, Machine Learning, RDBMS, R, SQL, Data Modeling, Java, Unix Scripting, AWS, Microstrategy, Power BI, and MPP databases. 10% - Troubleshoot technical issues in existing processes and current development work, solicit assistance from other roles and groups, and drive resolution to ensure the integrity of platform quality and project timelines. 10% - Understand and improve shared standard patterns, templates, and artifacts for BI and data warehouse platform architecture, data science development approaches, data models, and new technology adoption and rollout. 10% - Collaborate with upstream and downstream IT and business teams to identify and document use cases, performance and capability requirements, and criteria for successful solution delivery. 10% - Mentor other team members on technical skills, best practices, problem solving approaches, and standard patterns used at XPO Logistics. 5% - Proactively generalize and share technical approaches and best practices among other developers, and simplify and communicate completed work to broader audiences across the company. 5% - Help support data consumers to ensure they have reliable access to trusted data. This includes periodic responsibility for 24x7 on call production support. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the overall delivery plan and execution across supporting team members for assigned project work Lead daily stand-up meetings within immediate work group and proactively communicate status and progress of project work Mentor and coach teammates in business and technical knowledge and problem resolutions EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum Required Education: Masters degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Business or similar required Minimum Required Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in delivering business solutions that rely on business intelligence, data warehousing, data science, or similar domains Desirable Education/Experience: 4 years hands-on exper   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
