Develop or enhance monitoring and alerting tools, maintain routine application and server health updates such as patching, applying hotfixes or software version updates. Assist with project planning, problem identification and analysis, problem tracking and resolution. Partner with the internal team to provision and test new features or enhancements. Work with Marimba software users to ensure defects are captured and tracked. Assists with first and second level support of a continuously operational production environment. 4-6 years Story Behind the Need: This CW will report to the manager of technology solutions for the Retail Technology Release Management team and will ultimately roll up to the POS Technology organization for Starbucks. The team is composed of a mix of partners and non-partners. This role requires your A-Game: technical proficiency, experience in highly distributed, enterprise scale, retail systems and the courage to drive change required. This CW will be focused on the Windows 10 Upgrade project for this 6 month engagement. Typical Day in the Role: Operational Support System Support: Helps drive investigation of root cause analysis for incidents Provides support to product teams for environment builds, refreshes, and break-fix issues Documentation, Reports, and KPIs: Creates, update, and maintain system or process documentation: looking for someone to put together a formal feedback loop to keep tabs on healthy practices Helps gather metrics for report data across team Assists in identifying and prioritizing remediation efforts for recurring issues Leadership Receptive and responsive to coaching and guidance from leaders and more experienced engineers. Seeks input and support as required Able to identify requirements, course of action, and drive small scale efforts to completion Communicates effectively with proven track record negotiating within team, and across organization Participates in prioritization of requests/initiatives through the use of tracking intake via Jira Engineering Specific Competencies Hardware, Software and Platform Experience with installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance, of OS, application software, and tools Ability to quickly gain understanding of underlying infrastructure components, applications, and integrations Contributes to process of building standard images, and installs for use on-premise and in the cloud Contributes to discussion for standardizing tools and metrics used across our platform Flexibility and willingness to learn and acquire cross-domain knowledge.
