Job Description : Title: DevOps Engineer Location: Terms: Contract to Hire Position: We are seeking an experienced DevOps engineer to assist Apex Systems clients with automating manual IT tasks and to support containerization of applications. This candidate will work directly with clients to engineer the DevOps toolchains in their environments, build Dockerfiles to containerize applications, and to build the Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) pipeline for applications. Finally, this position will engage with the client Program Manager to ensure customer expectations are met and to provide best practices and lessons learned for broader use across the client base. This position can be based anywhere physically within the United States, with a preference for the candidate to be located near our offices/client sites in Washington, DC; Oak Ridge, TN; or New Orleans, LA. This position will require periodic travel (up to 50%) for client meetings and work assignments. The candidate must be a US Citizen and is subject to a background check and unannounced drug testing requirements. Job Duties: • Containerizing legacy applications with Docker and deploying to Docker Enterprise Edition (EE) • Automating and streamlining the CI/CD pipeline between GitLab and Docker EE • Developing documentation and procedures for DevOps and communicating/training client personnel • Manually constructing Dockerfiles by reviewing legacy source code • Testing application builds and remediating issues found during testing • Documenting learning within the GitLab wiki for each application • Work as part of a team to scope work per Sprints and interface independently with SMEs • Generate problem and change reports, communicate orally and in writing with the test lead and developers, and ensure the corrective action for these problem and change reports operates correctly. Education/Training, Qualifications, and Certification: • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise environments in a System Administrator or Systems Engineering role • 2+ years of experience supporting Linux environments • Hands on experience containerizing applications with Docker (Windows and or .NET experience desired) • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and related tools such as Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, and Ansible • Experience using Git tools for configuration management of source code • Strong analytic skills to evaluate systems and code against desired requirements. Ability to understand requirements and create technical documentation of code accordingly with minimal supervision. • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software applications for writing wellpolished, error free client deliverables • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multi-task • DevOps related certifications and training desired • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree OR equivalent work experience • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients • Project management and/or Agile/Scrum certifications are desired   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
