This role is built for someone with deep hands-on Cloudflare expertise who can quickly understand our current configuration, identify improvement opportunities, and help establish secure, reliable, and well-documented practices across the platform. Specific responsibilities: Cloudflare Assessment & Strategy Perform a current-state assessment of our Cloudflare environment, including DNS, CDN, caching, WAF, firewall rules, SSL/TLS, Workers, redirects, routing, analytics, logs, and operational controls. Identify configuration risks, performance gaps, security concerns, cost opportunities, and areas where standards or governance should be improved. Develop a prioritized roadmap of practical recommendations, balancing business impact, implementation effort, risk reduction, and operational maintainability. Cloudflare Support & Optimization Perform a comprehensive review of the existing Cloudflare configuration and identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, performance, cost efficiency, and operational consistency. Support and improve Cloudflare services across DNS, CDN/cache behavior, WAF policies, firewall rules, page rules, redirects, routing, SSL/TLS certificates, and edge delivery. Troubleshoot Cloudflare Workers, performance issues, memory usage, latency, cache misses, traffic flow, and configuration-related problems. Use Cloudflare analytics, logs, and platform tooling to validate changes, identify trends, and improve edge reliability, security, and site performance. Establish and maintain documented Cloudflare best practices, standards, and runbooks for configuration, change management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing support. Mentor team members on Cloudflare concepts, operational practices, troubleshooting approaches, and safe configuration changes. Implementation Guidance & Operational Enablement Recommend and help implement Cloudflare changes that improve security, reliability, traffic flow, edge performance, and operational consistency. Provide practical guidance on safe change management, testing, rollback planning, monitoring, alerting, and validation of Cloudflare configuration updates. Create clear documentation, standards, and runbooks that enable the internal team to support and maintain the Cloudflare environment after the engagement. Collaboration & Communication Partner closely with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders from team leads to directors, so everyone knows whats happening and why it matters. Write documentation that actually helps people. Clear, thorough, and built to last. Team & Growth Work independently while partnering effectively with internal technical teams, application owners, security stakeholders, and leadership. Transfer knowledge to internal team members through documentation, walkthroughs, and practical recommendations that build long-term confidence with the platform. Bring a consultant mindset: clear findings, pragmatic recommendations, and a focus on leaving the environment stronger than you found it. What youll need: Deep hands-on experience with Cloudflare in production environments. Strong knowledge of Cloudflare DNS, CDN and cache behavior, WAF, firewall rules, page rules, redirects, routing, SSL/TLS certificates, Workers, analytics, logs, and edge delivery. Experience reviewing existing Cloudflare configurations and translating findings into prioritized, actionable recommendations. Ability to troubleshoot Cloudflare-related performance, security, traffic flow, cache, certificate, routing, and configuration issues.
