The following development skills are critical to ensure a successful engagement: • Ability to read and write effective, modular, dynamic and robust code, establish and follow already established code standards, and ETL framework • Ability to work with Change Data Capture, Slowly Changing Dimension Type 2, Surrogate Key Generator, Aggregator, Merge, Sort, Join, Lookup, Transformer, Filter, Shared Container and other stages, utilization of Datasets, Parameter files and Parameter sets. • Excellent troubleshooting & optimization skills: interpreting Datastage log files, SQL / Data validation, dissecting DataStage code at the UNIX OS level, understanding the benefits of parallelism, drawbacks and appropriateness of using the multi-node vs. single node processing; ability to understand and optimize the surrogate key generator behavior, date range and inconsistent data types handling. • Ability to capture and research DataStage issues and bugs, build sample test jobs that recreate a bug, provide sample job and supplemental information to the vendor and work with IBM until successful resolution. • Understanding of the Datastage abilities and limitations from a scheduling perspective: Datastage jobs vs. sequences, UNIX Cron and UNIX Shell scripting and ability to select the most optimal scheduling solution; ability to call DataStage jobs from the command line and from the Scheduling tool locally or remotely • Ability to design jobs that can be easily promoted from one (Dev) environment to another (Test or Prod) seamlessly, without rewriting jobs. • Ability to create unit, integration and system ETL test cases • Clear understanding of Datastage and ETL best practices within an Oracle environment • DataStage error handling, error propagation and email notification • Ability to read, write and tune Oracle and ANSI SQL code • Ability to read, write and tune Oracle PL/SQL code • Ability to read, write and support custom UNIX shell scripts that supplement and enrich ETL toolset, and enable ETL and Scheduling tools integration Other qualifications • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Effective communication skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Responsibilities include, but not limited to: • Design of DataStage jobs, job sequences, containers and re usable components to implement specified business requirements • Creation of technical specifications documents and design process diagrams • Develop functional specifications for data acquisition, transformation and load processes • Develop UNIX shell scripts for data file processing and process integration tasks. • Define job parameters, reference lookups, filter criteria • Use Oracle, ODBC, SORT, JOIN, MERGE, FILTER, FUNNEL, MODIFY and other stages. • Schedule jobs through UNIX shell scripts in UNIX CRON utility • Conduct code reviews and participate in technical design • Conduct performance analysis and optimize Data stage/Orchestrate jobs • Conduct performance analysis and tuning   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
