SSIS Developer

Job Description: This position requires an individual to design and build a database and the associated SSIS packages for the loading of the database, using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 64-bit enterprise edition software. The candidate will work with other team members in support of our Actuarial Finance group and be responsible for the overall design and development of the ETL SSIS packages. Does any of this exist yet or will they start from scratch?[LNG] Both new development and maintenance/upgrades

The SQL Server Developer must have better than average analytical skills and will also need to have some experience moving large data sets thru other ETL tools or SSIS.

Required Technical Skills:
Minimal 5-7 years experience with VB.NET, Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 RDBMS SQL Server Integrated Services. Expertise in writing complex SSIS packages as well as Transact -SQL, triggers, and stored procedures. Candidate should possess several years experience with Relational database analysis, design and modeling techniques and creating various database objects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned:
Develop SSIS packages for data transformations into a new data warehouse based on specifications provided by our Actuarial Finance team. How many on the actuarial team? [LNG] we work with 12 in US and 5-6 in Japan and China. India will be a new customer and possibly Korea. Not sure how big their teams are at this point. Will there be any other people working with this person on this project?[LNG] The Asia IT Team 8 people, and very closely the DWH and Cognos Teams about 12 people.
Develop, implement and maintain unit tests of database programs (i.e, SQL, etc) Share knowledge by effectively documenting work Respond quickly and effectively to production & development issues and taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.
Design & implement data models and database designs into physical databases.
Manage backup and recovery of databases.
Manage security of database structures and corporate data held within databases.
Develop database procedures, triggers and SQL scripts for development teams.
Maintain database changes from Development, QA to Production.
Assist in the definition and implementation of database standards.
Monitor databases for errors and perform problem determination when necessary.
Design and implement highly available production systems.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in technical discipline; or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in creating and managing all database objects (tables, views, etc.).
Experience writing complex SQL, triggers, and procedures.
Ability to work with minimal direction, yet also able to work in team environment.
Relational database analysis and modeling experience.
Experience configuring database network connectivity.
Understanding of database backup and recovery techniques.
Experience in fast paced production or operational system arena.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Hands on and ownership personality.
