It is not a field Tech or onsite Implementation Engineer. The Wavelength Engineering / Capacity Management team create(s) AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) for Capital projects and issues Engineering Capacity Creation Requests (CCRs) to initiate US domestic network transport builds to support customer and internal wave requirements. These AFEs and CCRs support customer driven and Verizon internal wavelength transport requirements. Responsibility includes engineering of Ultra Long Haul (100G Capable) Network utilizing high capacity next generation light wave and wave division technologies to meet network services capacity, vulnerability, diversity, reliability, and growth requirements. Plan, design, and kick-off high bandwidth requirements for various customers riding MESH/SONET systems, and DWDM ULH systems. Candidate should be familiar with Alcatel-Lucent, Ciena, Siemens & Fujitsu SONET/DWDM/MESH products. Prepare & implement plans to build and/or decommission transport systems and POPs as required by the business. Candidate should demonstrate a high degree of knowledge in job related functional area and of the telecommunications business. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications as well as competent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point). Knowledge of the following technologies required: MESH, SONET/SDH, ULH. Familiarity with Verizon systems like ICON, CCP, BGW, MECCA, XNG, and TCOMs is a plus. Work with cross-functional groups including Provisioning, Operations and Internal Engineering groups to identify and resolve technical and provisioning issues associated with MESH/SONET/SDH/ULH circuits. Become familiar with next generation technologies and apply knowledge to create efficient networks with lowest possible cost. Must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in functional area and of telecommunications technology.
