Complete Description: Years of Experience: 3 or more years field experience Education: 2 year college degree or equivalent technical study The selected candidate will participate in the Department of States IT Stabilization and Consolidation Initiative. This will involve working on the following tasks: Desktop Standardization: The various desktop models at the DOS will require standardization before they can be migrated to the Treasury network. Standardization will include, for example, Microsoft Office upgrades from Office 2003 to Office 2007; participating in implementation of e-Policy Orchestrator to ensure that McAfee antivirus updates are successful; participating in implementation of WSUS to ensure that Microsoft updates are successful; changing NIC settings; downgrading from Windows Vista to Windows XP and other requests as necessary. Create Desktop Images: DOS uses SMS for desktop imaging. Once the desktops are standardized, images will need to be created for the various models. Participate in File Consolidation: DOS files are located on various servers. The selected candidate will participate in the effort to consolidate the files onto one server. Tracking and Categorization of Helpdesk Requests: The selected candidate will participate in responding to helpdesk requests and track the primary types of requests received. Update Inventory: Update software and hardware inventory based upon desktop visits. Migration of Other Agencies into the DOS: If additional agencies are transferred to the DOS, the position will assist with the migrations, to include imaging and setting up pcs, participating in email and file migrations.
