Perform installation, upgrade, configuration, deployment and administration of iSeries/AS400 operating systems and hardware. Coordinate/execute OS version upgrades, PTFs, software fixes and preventative maintenance to minimize risk and service disruptions. 24x7 support for operating systems and ancillary software. Ensure availability, capacity and performance. Analyze and evaluate iSeries systems operations (day to day incidents/issues) and provide technical direction and recommendations for remediation. Implement systems automation procedures and tools to optimize system monitoring and computing resources Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed (in a rotation/on call basis) Provides technical support activities for a production iSeries processing environment. Installs, maintains and supports iSeries operating system and/or its components and subsystems. Analyzes and resolves problems related to failures in operating system and ancillary software components. Provides technical assistance to programming staff in analyzing application software amends, performance, and resource consumption. Creates and maintains complete documentation as it relates to installation and status of software. Educates internal users on software capabilities and use.
