Excellent performance analysis and tuning skills for critical databases and jobs. Proactively prevent database issues by closely monitoring the databases on a regular basis and implementing the tools and procedures required to maintain a very stable environment. Responsible for administering, analyzing, recommending, designing, developing, enhancing and supporting data structures and data processes required to meet business objectives. Contributes considerable business and technical knowledge to complex IT projects. Work must be performed at client site in Portland, OR. SQL Server Application DBA Skills and Qualifications Computer Science, Business or STEM degree or equivalent working experience 7-10 years experience in the Information Technology field with a minimum of 5 years experience specifically supporting SQL Databases. Understands database design and data management best practices Strong database performance analysis skills Strong problem triage and remediation skills SQL certification preferred T-SQL coding and analysis experience is required. Powershell scripting a plus SQL 2008, SQL 2012 experience required. SQL 2000, SQL 2005, SQL 2014 experience a plus. SSAS, SSRS and SSIS experience a plus Experience configuring, supporting and monitoring SQL replication technologies a big plus. Experience with common SQL and Windows analysis tools required (SSMS, Activity Monitor, SQL Profiler, Perfmon ) Experience with other monitoring tools beneficial, especially Foglight and Spotlight. Experience providing support in an ITIL based environment a plus. Experience with IT support management frameworks, especially HP Service Manager, a plus. Excellent communication skills and works well with diverse teams or independently Experience with the full project lifecycle from conception to implementation & support Self-starter with excellent organization, planning, documentation and time management skills Ability to analyze business cases, extract requirements and understand business needs Proficiency with metadata, data modeling and data quality tools an asset Experience with Multi-platform and multi-system integration SQL Server Application DBA Responsibilities Direct and expedient involvement with service restoration from database related system outages and slowdowns; Participation in root cause analysis and development of countermeasures for serious database related incidents; Proactive monitoring and performance analysis of production SQL databases; Development and enhancement of database monitoring and housekeeping utilities as required. Application development consulting, debugging and tuning of indices, SQL statements including SQL statement creation, SQL statement tuning, and partitioning; Direct involvement with application teams to review, develop and analyze DDL, provide and execute deployment scripts, application tuning and maintenance with respect to data base performance; Object creation and writing T-SQL functions and queries (index, tables, stored procedures, triggers); Database structure creation at schema level; design the databases, tables as per application requirements Code deployment to production in cases where app teams do not have credentials to deploy it; Management of authorizations and access rights for the application user base; Support of data recovery and restores as related to specific applications; Tune and resolve database performance problems.
