This role will be a dedicated solution architect as our largest agency, the Department of Revenue, looks to modernize their systems. The Department contacts IT services from the client. The client is hiring this role to serve as a solution architect, providing information regarding the existing IDR systems and partnering with the vendor to fully migrate IDR to a new solution. The catalyst for this project is to reduce technical debt and modernize systems to deliver services more efficiently. The Department is in the process of procuring off-the-shelf systems that will be customized to meet their needs. IDR will eventually migrate off its current disparate systems to a modernized solution set. Citizens are served in the most efficient and cost-effective means possible. The full implementation of this project is expected to take 3-5 years. Current applications are primarily Microsoft written in a variety of technologies including but not limited to Teradata, BizTalk, Classic ASP, ASP.Net and some desktop (VB.Net). Additional technologies include SQL Server, Teradata EDW, and Mainframe. Many processes use XML. There are many core processes dependent on Microsoft Excel and Access. Additionally, numerous interfaces and exchanges exist with data moving between State, local and federal partners as well as third parties. The target solution set is unknown as vendors are currently being evaluated; however, this contractor should be a seasoned IT professional familiar with writing applications in the below mentioned technologies. The team will be led by the Department of Revenue (sponsor) with technical leadership provided by the vendor and the client. This role requires big picture thinking, the ability to solicit and pull together requirements from business and technical teams. The candidate will need to understand current systems, where data exists and partner with the vendor to develop a roadmap to move from current to future state. This role will actively dig through code to understand processes, roles, and functions.
