Description: Currently, we are seeking a talented software Developer to join the Life Insurance Division in Lynchburg, VA. The Life Insurance Division works with financial and insurance professionals to give families and businesses the life insurance coverage needed to help meet important financial protection, wealth accumulation, and wealth preservation goals. The software developer will be a key contributor as part of the Pacific Life technology team. This role will serve as a technical leader within the team, performing research into new technologies, helping other team members with advanced troubleshooting, designing APIs, coding core components of complex solutions, and providing high level vision and direction to multiple contractors and junior developers. Additional responsibilities include: • Drives implementation of technology vision for multiple projects and systems • System owner for certain key systems • Technology stack owner for multiple technologies (e.g. workflow, API, imaging) • Provides architectural and design guidance for multiple workstreams • Researches new technologies and constructs proof-of-concept for new initiatives • Collaborates with technologists from external customers and business partners • Works to enhance, tune, and re-engineer existing connectivity and integration solutions • Must be a team player with a high degree of flexibility, prepared to work in a deadline-driven and fast paced environment • Ability to take initiative Basic Qualifications: • 5+ years of professional software development experience • Extensive experience with Enterprise Java • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to effectively train others as needed Preferred Qualifications: • 5+ years experience in the Life Insurance industry • Solid experience with SQL, especially Oracle and PL/SQL • Project experience with Javascript frameworks (e.g. Angular, Node, Bootstrap) • Strong bash and windows scripting • Project experience with MQ and JMS • Solid experience consuming and constructing web services (SOAP and REST) • Project experience with document management and workflow • Experience with IBM Datapower • Experience with API frameworks (e.g. Mule) • Ability to work with 3rd party vendors as required on new implementations, enhancements and troubleshooting   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
