Job Description: Winston-Salem State University is looking for a technician that will assist University Network Administrators with installing, maintaining, and servicing a variety of telephone equipment (IP phones, ATAs), access points, surveillance cameras, and network switches. The Technician is responsible for organizing and completing the technical day-to-day operations assigned through work orders and servicing trouble calls. The Technician will maintain good relations with clients by listening to and then sorting out their issues or escalating the issues to their seniors. Technician Duties and Responsibilities: • Install IP phones, network switches, Access Points, and security cameras • Troubleshoot network issues • Manage and support LAN and WAN Network devices • Installs, moves, repairs, and modifying network equipment and related equipment according to job order specifications • Repairing voice and data equipment, determining cable, wire and equipment needed to accomplish the service requested. • Implement approved Network changes in accordance with applicable procedures • Analyze and diagnose network problems for a variety of users • Complete trouble tickets that are submitted via the ticketing system • Recommend corrective solutions to be applied to network hardware or software • Perform preventative maintenance tasks Educational Qualifications and Other Requirements: • High school diploma or GED. • Completion of a postsecondary education program in networking, telecommunications technology, computer science, or a related field. • Proven experience working as a network and/or telecommunications technician. • Sound knowledge of network and telecommunications systems. • The ability to work well under pressure. • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. • Exceptional communication and customer service skills. • A detail-oriented disposition.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
