Description:

Summary of the Position
This is a part time, 15 hours per week, position with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and
Environmental Affairs (EEA) and will report to the Director of Client Services Management. The Sr. Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for performing more complex to basic hardware and software support, installation, compatibility checks, and maintenance for Windows and Mac based networked computers and peripherals. Incumbent must have specific knowledge of several of the following areas: Windows, Windows NT, UNIX, RDBMS, TCP/IP, dial-up networking and network configurations. Provide technical support to the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and its agencies.
Primary Responsibilities
• Respond to more complex user problems involving computer hardware and/or software.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot software, network connections/devices, and hardware failures.
• May interact with network services, software systems and applications development.
• Provide end user desktop support
• Install and update computer application software as needed
• Setup, configure, and troubleshoot notebooks for the shared pool
• Install local and network attached printers and other peripheral devices
• Provides technical support to Network, Telecom and Infrastructure administrators, as warranted
• Reset AD and email passwords
• Ensures nightly backups are performed and that backup records are maintained for noncentralized sites
• Follow-up with customers to ensure issues have been resolved.
• Ensure that issues are managed and resolved in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure all computers, notebooks, and devices meet the Commonwealths requirements.
• Manage the load distribution of computer notebooks, projectors and other devices. • Assist other office locations with technology-based issues as needed
• Participate in collaborative technology team efforts
• Take obsolete equipment out of service and record asset disposal using established systems.
• Support cellular devices as needed
• Liaise with other IT teams to troubleshoot any current integrated technology issues.
• Participate in Secretariat wide initiatives
• Attend meetings and seminars to support the overall direction of the IT office
• Serve as backup for other staff members in a mutually supportive teamwork environment and respond to system failure and maintenance emergencies.
Qualifications
• At least (A) four years of full time, or equivalent part time, professional relevant experience required, of which (B) at least three years must have been work directly related to the duties/responsibilities as outlined, or (C) Bachelors degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
• MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician
• Demonstrated ability and success in technical and process aspects of IT project management.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness.
• Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, deadline-oriented customer focused environment.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be creative
