The Functional Architect is also responsible for bringing an understanding of the enterprise, business system and industry to the team(s) supporting or interfacing with the application. The primary responsibility of a Functional Architect is to define and document the functional requirements needed to develop an application based on the current and /or future business process. The Functional Architect will also prepare and review designs to recommend improvements, and to provide guidance during the testing process. The Functional Architect helps the Software Engineers establish a clear understanding of the business functional requirements and either creates the functional designs to meet the requirements or reviews and approves the designs written by the Software Engineer. Education: Four year college degree or equivalent technical study Experience: Six plus years of experience Skill and knowledge include but are not limited to: Analyze, determine, and document functional requirements. Gather and interpret requirements into design specifications. Understand specific business needs and overall business strategy of the business customer. Provide standard, well-structured work planning which defines scope, resources, commitments, quality, risk, tasks, and acceptance criteria. Ensure that overall application designs remain within project scope. Work with customer business units to understand their business processes. Ensure business requirements are supported by the software. May supervisor other contracts .Oversee work of multiple MMIS suppliers in all aspects of design, development, testing and implementation of modifications to MMIS interfaces that receive or transmit eligibility data to ensure business needs and objectives of the Division of Medicaid and the Department are met. 2. Analyze, determine and document functional requirements 3. Gather and interpret requirements into design specifications 4. Work with Medicaid and Welfare business to understand specific business needs and overall business strategy of the Division of Medicaid 5. Ensure that MMIS interfaces meet Medicaid business needs 6. Participate in Medicaid Readiness MMIS impact analysis activities. 7. Participate in cross-Division planning and work alignment meetings. 8. Prepare or review MMIS change control documentation. 9. Participate in defining solutions that best leverage core functionality of MMIS COTS products. 10. Work with Project Manager to identify and document project concerns, risks and opportunities. 11. Ensure solutions integrate successfully across multiple Department and MMIS system components and data interfaces. 12. Coordinate testing and validation activities. 13. Identify and complete state project tasks in alignment with MMIS supplier tasks and deliverables to ensure alignment with scope and schedule. 14. Review and provide recommendations regarding the suitability of MMIS supplier project deliverables. 15. Act as technical consultant to Project Manager. 16.
