The qualified individual will work in a team environment, and be an escalation point for their DB Team. They will have worked on major modernization efforts, as well as have in-depth experience with leading the design/build out of new databases. The selected candidate will also have experience speaking with internal/external stakeholders on new technologies & efficiencies that can be built into their environment. Location: Columbia, MD Duration: Contract with Perm Potential after 6 months Compensation: Competitive based on years of relevant experience & education Clearance: Able to Obtain a Public Trust Job Summary & Responsibilities: Database Architects are senior level contributors and provide operational support of our existing database environment, development support for the creation of new applications and guidance and expertise for the continuous improvement of uninterrupted operations. The Database Architect will work with other developers, business analysts and product owners to understand requirements and identify solutions. Database Administrator/Architect are expected to come into the position with a great deal of prior knowledge and experience, and will need to demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a team-oriented environment. Database architect will have responsibilities including administrative, architectural, and engineering aspects of Microsoft SQL Server from dev to production. Database architect will be working closely with internal development teams to establish a strong partnership and atmosphere of collaboration to create and maintain effective database-coupled application logic, stored procedures, triggers and user-defined functions. Database architect will help tune our BI environment to meet the ever-growing needs of our Clients. Install, configure, implement, and administrator MS SQL Server instances in clustered and non-clustered environments. Ensure performance, security and availability of databases. Providing direction to meet the current and future growth requirements of database environments including but not limited to capacity planning and optimization. Identify and/or optimize monitoring tools. Document benchmarks along with analyzing and tuning databases for optimal system performance including modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources. Design and propose changes in database architecture, implementation, deployments and administration of database infrastructure using automation tools. Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc Basic Qualifications: BS degree in a computer or system science and 8+ years of progressive experience with expertise in using MS SQL Server 2012 or later Experience supporting high availability web-based applications. Must have experience with data modeling, data model optimization, and translation into implementation. Must have experience assisting with complex query tuning, schema refinement & index management. Must have experience implementing and providing recommendations for using optimal SQL Replication types, as well as new technologies Experience with HA, WSFC, FCI, AG, DAG, and DR options/environments. Specifically HA & DR Excellent written and verbal communications. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with SSIS & SSRS tools for SQL Server.
