Description: Policies are the foundation of a strong information security program, and the Security Policy Analyst will serve a key role in managing our writing and managing our IT Security policies. This role reports will report to the Manager of Security and Compliance Management, and is a part of BTM at Department of Corrections. The Security and Compliance Management team is on the East side of Madison, Wisconsin so a local candidate is preferred. Currently our positions are 100% remote for most part. Training and other issues require a visit to the office. The Security Policy Analyst role requires a fair amount of administrative work that would include, but would not be limited to drafting documents, sending emails, scheduling review meetings, etc. Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for researching and composing clear, accurate, and coherent information, creating various types of documentation including Enterprise Security policies using the following security frameworks like NIST CSF, NIST 800-53 , programs, technical standards, procedures, knowledge base articles (KBs), how-to guides, training materials, incident response guides. • Collaborate with Information Management subject matter experts on the creation and maintenance of Security policy, standards and procedure documents. • Produce consistent and uniform internal and external technical documentation through writing, rewriting, and translating data into findable, usable content intended for a variety of audiences. • Ensure consistency in documentation as it relates to security practices and controls. • Obtain and document appropriate review and approval on any content published or updated. • Assesses current policies and procedures for adherence to regulatory requirements, identifies potential gaps and confirms with owners so that mitigation action plans can be developed. • Assists with special projects as needed. • Develop and enhance security awareness and training materials • Partner effectively with the security awareness team to communicate new policies and spread general awareness about policy set. • Partner with BTM teams to ensure policies meet the needs and goals of BTM. • Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional policies. • Review information security requirements for both new and existing contractual agreements with outside parties. • Stay current on regulatory changes that could impact our Security policies • Stay current with new technologies and best practices relative to security/privacy discipline as well as applicable federal, state, industry, and regulatory compliance. • Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills and Experience: • Technical writers communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, and without relying on jargon • Moderate knowledge of information security policy and techniques and Strong familiarity industry frameworks like: ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, or equivalent. • Technical writing experience especially around policies • 2+ years of experience with security methodologies, frameworks like NIST 800   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
