Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost. The Database Administrator will be responsible for the planning, design, migration, and documentation involved in implementing Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and Microsoft Office365 to replace the current Novell and Groupwise environments DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: The Database Administrator will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation, migration, and documentation involved in moving SCDHHS from the current Novell/Groupwise environment to Microsoft Active Directory and Office365. Duties include: • Performing discovery activities related to the current environment. • Developing a new directory design • Migrating existing users and resources from the Novell directory to Active Directory • Initializing the Office365 environment • Migrating groups of users to Office365 from Novell Groupwise • Training DHHS technical staff in using the appropriate migration tools • Supporting DHHS staff in iterative migrations • Developing documentation • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS • Experience in migrating large, complex Novell/Groupwise environments to Active Directory and Office 365 • Excellent documentation skills • Ability to effectively work and communicate, in both oral and written, with all levels of the Department.
