Job Description Developer: SQL Server Performance Tuning, Partitioning, Rebuilding Outlook, Database Admin

Description :

Microsoft Certified Professional SQL Server

Excellent English spoken and written communication must work with HPE, client, 3rd party vendors and make presentations to the Senior level client. Attend and document requirement gathering sessions.

Extensive SQL Server performance tuning experience. Including, but not limited to, explain, plan, analysis, index recommendations, query monitoring, identifying badly behaved queries and providing recommendations.

Monitor overall system performance to ensure that the entire system (not only queries) is running efficiently and able to make adjustments as needed.

Ability to develop or review in detail, SQL code, created by 3rd party or Leveraged team, prior to being deployed into Dev/QA/Prod

Experience defining data partitioning strategy and implementation with on-going projects.

Ability to work with 3rd parties (RJRT, IM, Brock) to understand their data and its usage in order to effectively design the partitioning implementation of active projects.

Work with the hosting dba team (HPE) to implement effective and efficient partitioning and ensure that the SQL Server server/instance is configured appropriately for the data volumes.

Work with 3rd party system dba team to create an appropriate data backup implementation that will permit restoration that will meet defined RTO & RPO.

Recommend system architecture e.g. clustering, mirroring, replication as appropriate.

Work with the 3rd party storage administration team to correctly define required files and file systems on the appropriate tier of disk storage.

Create or modify all necessary scripts to efficiently maintain various databases and their 18 months of data.

Production Support activities to maintain the systems as business SLAs require. 7x24 on-call support coverage shared with Leveraged DBA resource (.5 FTE). Respond to incident tickets using existing tool sets.

Collect, maintain and create DB metric reports, analyze data, provide recommendations for improvements, provide trending analysis and recommendations

Support/Enhance the HPE developed database code deployed to various servers, which include

o Partition management

o Index reorg/rebuild

o Check database process

o File group management

o Database backups

o Filegroup/database size management

o Coordinate Custom Maintenance plans with HP ITO DBAs
