This role requires a high level Server engineer with major understanding with Microsoft NTFS permissions while also understanding the role to design, install, administer, and optimize Microsoft Windows servers and related components, including attached storage, RBAC understanding as well as folder permissions to achieve and maintain high performance and availability of file servers. The Senior Server Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help, identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize availability of system resources. JOB DUTIES: • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation as it relates to server and network topology, equipment and configurations. • Create project plans, design, and implement solutions. • Automate tasks and gather information using Powershell, or other scripting languages. • Perform data migrations using Robocopy and Powershell. • Gather information from multiple sources – analyze, sort, parse using a database, or specialized spreadsheet to produce useful actionable reports for projects or tasks. • Analyze, modify, maintain, monitor NTFS permissions on folders. • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the secretariats and agency disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed. • Standard system administration duties including server install, patch management, Windows problem determination and resolution, log analysis, etc. • Provide infrastructure services in the areas of storage networking, directory services, login scripts, group policies, DNS, and DHCP. • Develop processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. • Produce useful customized reports, and diagrams, as well as other documentation on the current environment. • Work with executive team members, decision makers and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals and to identify and resolve business systems issues. • Under the direction of the IT Solutions Management, the candidate will initiate, plan, execute and deliver EHS technical projects that will achieve specific goals and meet specific business success criteria. • Clearly communicate and/or escalate to their manager any IT operations issues or disruptions (planned or unplanned) to minimize user impact. • Assist and work jointly with other technical operations staff on high level secretariat-wide IT projects • Work collaboratively with internal and external groups in a team environment to improve overall customer service and support. • Complete all activities within EOHHS security policies and practices to ensure the safety and privacy of data, its clients and its resources. • Required to travel to various sites as needed or requested. • Participate in team meetings as required. • Write and maintain functional technical specifications, scripts, and “cookbooks” for the use of other Server Administrators and other IT Site Management staff. • Other responsibilities as assigned.
