The incumbent will achieve compatibility by creating new applications built with modern technologies or by building retrofits to work with the existing applications. The Office of Academic Personnel, Academic Senate, and other related units depend on these applications for critical functionality. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with stakeholders from those offices and with the UCPath project team to upgrade those applications, which were built with older technologies to work with older systems that will be decommissioned. Duties include performing business analysis and interviewing users; implementing and testing changes to database schemas and jobs; designing, building, and testing applications; documenting functional and technical requirements; identifying and resolving deficiencies; and ensuring the integrity and security of data. Job Essential Function 1 Percent of Time: 90% APPLICATION AND DATABASE ANALYSIS AND DEVELOPMENT Perform analysis of legacy applications and databases used by the Office of Academic Personnel and related units. Conduct user interviews to determine requirements and understand usage. Design and build retrofits to enable applications to work with UCPath. Ensure that retrofits will allow for future upgrades and enhancements to the application. Depending on availability, construct new applications built with modern technologies to replace legacy applications. Deliver milestones on time according to the UCPath schedule. Collaborate with the UCPath project team and other OIT teams as needed. Job Essential Function 2 Percent of Time: 10% OPERATIONAL SUPPORT Troubleshoot issues and answer questions about the legacy applications throughout the project. Determine what changes and issues should be resolved concurrent to the retrofit or be deferred. Participate in UCPath project meetings and working groups. Write and maintain application and database documentation. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Required: ? Three (3) to five (5) years with BA/BS or one (1) to three (3) years with MA/MS or equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent business analysis and requirements gathering skills working with end users Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for both technical and business colleagues Strong .NET development skills, especially C#, ASP.NET MVC, and EF Strong skills in database development with SQL Server Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and jQuery Experience with RESTful APIs and Web Services Experience with VB, VBA, and Access Experience using git or another DVCS Experience with analysis, modification, and retrofit of legacy applications Experience with working with sensitive data Proven track record of building database-driven applications Solid understanding of object-oriented design and programming Maturity in providing and receiving feedback through active participation in code reviews and QA Familiarity with agile methodologies as well as working with non-agile teams Self-motivated and cooperative work habits Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ongoing self-training on the latest development technologies and techniques Desired: Ex   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
