San Francisco, CA Duration: through the end of the year, possibly extending into 2016 if things are going well. Our well-known client in the Pharmaceutical industry is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer for their Bioinformatics Department. This person would be serving a dual role: 1) System health and root-cause analysis / technical issue resolution for our legacy Pathology LIMS system and 2) DevOps / system administration helping the team put in place infrastructure to support a new microservices initiative. This person will need to have a good understanding of system and application component interaction in shared environments. This foundation provides the basic tools to perform analyses to effectively perform root-cause analysis and resolve issues for the Pathology LIMS system (PathLIMS) System Health of PathLIMS Responsibilities Availability and general operations management for PathLIMS (Keep the Lights On, aka KLO) Manage multiple auxiliary systems and structures for PathLIMS, including cron jobs Management and health of Oracle Triggers (scheduled refresh jobs), along with other database dependencies Troubleshooting and management of dependent systems. This involves both database, service and meta-data dependencies. Work with corporate IT to make sure system monitoring and management is functioning normally Maintain the Jenkins build system and jobs for building, deploying, testing and releasing pathlims patches Manage coordination of changes for environments with corporate IT and bioinformatics DevOps related to servers, server OS, network, network shares, storage locations (for app files) Manage all JBoss admin for the team/self-managed pool of servers, user environment and configurations. This also includes management of LibreOffice services, storage dependencies and general health Manage internal monitoring system in cron and bash scripts Manage server operations and data capture during outages and restoring services to minimize operational impact on business users Post incident troubleshooting in PathLIMS, and an ability to do larger-context Root Cause Analysis (RCA) aggregating PathLIMS data, logs and information with data for the shared environments working with SysAdmins, Networking, devOps, DBAs, Reporting and users. Follow up and RCA on events and alerts with users and user to support to ensure proper communication in times of instability. Troubleshooting level 3 user and application support issues Coordinate with Pathology Spotfire development on data-model related and data related reporting issues. Work with dependent applications and users to prevent additional dependencies on the applications data model Maintain the application manual test inventory for regression-testing functional components Coordinate with users, as needed, to manage any enhancements or changes for printing, instrument connectivity Work with corporate IT on platform support for any OS, OS version, browser and version, along with RDC for platforms certified to run PathLIMS Manage Java platform support with combinations of OS and OS version, browser and version, along with RDC needed for running PathLIMS Maintain the development and operational documentation (wiki and gDoc) Skills Comfortable configuring and troubleshooting Linux headless systems using command-line tools Good understanding of networking, and proficient with systems troubleshooting Familiar with building and deploying web applications Experience setting up and managing a multi-module maven (v3) project with an understanding of maven repositories, cachin   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
