These algorithms will be used to identify metal contaminants in products inspected by commercial metal detection equipment used in the food, pharmaceutical, and plastics industries. Analysis tools like Matlab will be used to develop new data processing algorithms. These algorithms will then be converted to a high- level language such as C++ for use in high speed real-time applications. Day to day responsibilities: Develop algorithms and help with understanding of how to adjust product/hardware to change the data that is collected from prototype hardware Work with information from 5 passes in order to create algorithms Working with Linux based systems and MATLAB & C/C++ Develop signal processing solutions Learn different product lines Picking up transmissions with receiving coils that go into the frequency domain, disseminate what metals are in there. IT skills Must have matlab 5 year(s) of experience c++ 5 year(s) of experience C 5 year(s) of experience Nice to have Linux 5 year(s) of experience Languages Must have English Native or bilingual proficiency Experience required 3 Must haves: 5+ years overall relevant experience in digital signal processing (DSP), unless they have a relevant PhD "Real-time” programming or real-time operating system (RTOS) experience operating on the millisecond level: Recent experience with C++ and MATLAB (client moving from Windows-based to Linux-based platform) Background in product/process development in the digital signal processing product/hardware space HOW TO LOOK AT SIGNALS Not looking for someone with just machine learning / big data for algorithm development (wont have enough data in order to do that) Qualifications: Proficient in Matlab or similar high-level signal analysis software. Willing to travel on occasion. Proficient with interfacing to electronic hardware. Possess the hands-on ability to collect meaningful data from prototype equipment for DSP evaluation. Possess the ability to lead a product development project from inception to completion. Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to support engineering, manufacturing, and sales across global subsidiaries. Skills relating to GUI development, communication, sensors, and equipment integration are highly desirable. Experience programming in either C, Visual C++, or C# is highly desirable. Additional job information Duties: Research and develop sophisticated signal processing algorithms on data sets. Analyze data sets using tools like Matlab. Convert algorithms to high level language (such as C++) and work into real-time system. Optimize algorithms to extract small target signals from large noise signals for various metal detection equipment and sensors. Be an integral part of a team that develops elegant signal processing solutions to difficult problems relating to new and existing industrial equipment and electronic sensors. Evaluate new technologies to help expand and enhance current product offerings.
