Possesses a strong understanding of systems programming, graphical user interfaces and control languages. Evaluates vendor supplied software packages and makes recommendations to IT management. Modifies and/or debugs vendor-supplied utilities and packages. Modifies, installs and prepares technical documentation for system software applications. Diagnoses, isolates and de-bugs software problems and performs problem resolution. Monitors systems capacity and performance, plans and executes disaster recovery procedures and provides Tier 2 technical support. May require an associates degree in a related area and 1-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area. SCOPE OF THE PROJECT: THIS POSITION WILL BE WORKING WITH THE INSURANCE RESERVE FUND AS A SYSTEM SOFTWARE PROGRAMMER. THIS POSITION WILL BE USED TO MAINTAIN THE PRODUCTION UNISYS BIS (MAPPPER) SYSTEM, IDENTIFY, ANALYZE, AND RESOLVE ISSUES MINIMIZING USER DOWNTIME. DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: REQUIRED TO WORK IN THE COLUMBIA, S.C .OFFICE M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM MAY REQUIRE WORK AFTER NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS Unisys BIS (MAPPER) Programmer/Analyst: • Experience in computer system/software development, modification, maintenance, testing, debugging, and programming of Unisys Business Information Server (BIS /MAPPER) • Ability to maintain the production Unisys BIS (MAPPER) system, identify, analyze, and resolve issues minimizing user downtime • Experience in data report handling and processing • Experience in MAPPER administration utilizing the Native Environment, PCMA (Admin Shell) and the MAPPER Administrator Tool. • Ability to develop, test, and debug enhancements to the existing Unisys BIS (MAPPER) system • Ability to prepare technical reports in a clear and concise manner • Ability to communicate and work effectively with other technical and non-technical individuals • Ability to use tools such as Microsoft Visio or similar software product to develop flow charts and business flows • Ability to work under limited supervision with a high degree of independence • Ability to provide technical assistance to other staff members in analyzing and solving MAPPER data processing and insurance related issues. • Ability to work with the Applications staff to provide assistance or training on the existing Unisys BIS (MAPPER) system • Ability to communicate project status and timelines with team members and management staff REQUIRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE): • BLACK SCREEN MODE (NATIVE ENVIRONMENT) • PCME • RUN DESIGN UTILIZING GRAPHICAL USER ENVIRONMENT (SCRIPT EDITOR) • BIS DEVELOPER WORKBENCH • MAPPER DATABASE AND REPORT STRUCTURE • GRAPHICS AND PCME (POINT-AND-CLICK MAPPER ENVIRONMENT) • CONNECTING TO BIS FROM A WINDOWS PC WORKSTATION • PCMA (ADMIN SHELL) AND THE MAPPER ADMINISTRATOR TOOL • WINDOWS SERVER PLATFORM • MAPPER PRESENTATION CLIENT/GI-BIS • WINDOWS GUI SCREEN INTERFACE • BIS NON-RELATIONAL DATABASE PREFERRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE): • PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING IN AN INSURANCE ENVIRONMENT • EXPERIENCE IN MAPPER VERSION 11.1 OR 12.0   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
