Our team members are expected to demonstrate integrity, accountability, and an unwavering dedication to delivering quality solutions that maximize our SQL Server environments reliability and availability. Duties of team members include, but are not limited to, * Designing, testing, automating, and documenting procedures to perform key SQL Server tasks such as creating, backing up, recovering, patching, upgrading, and removing databases as well as overseeing the execution of these procedures by our vendor partners * Developing and implementing proactive and reactive monitoring to identify and address conditions that may compromise our ability to meet the organizations availability, performance, and security requirements * Enforcing database and data security policies and standards as well as reporting upon policy and standard compliance status to both internal and external audiences * Analyze database requirements, perform logical and physical database design and manage installation tasks. Work in conjunction with developers and other DBAs to resolve database problems during application testing and implementation. Manage the migration of database components between the development and production environments. * Plan, schedule and coordinate the implementation of new databases and modifications to existing databases in a manner that avoids disruption to production and development systems. Provide ongoing support to operations and support teams as needed. Set-up and manage database security, manage data purging/archiving activity and other day-to-day database administration activities. Provide first-level database support by investigating and troubleshooting reported database related issues/incidents. * Conduct data analysis involving the design and modification of complex reports, forms and system queries. Apply data analysis and data modeling techniques to establish, modify and maintain complex data structures and their associated components to increase efficiency of structures and components. * Pro-actively monitor the performance of development and production databases and perform tuning and maintenance to detect, correct and prevent unplanned downtime or performance degradation. Ensure operation of database environments meets or exceeds agreed upon service levels (e.g. availability and performance). Participate in system optimization and improvement planning including, but not limited to, database performance analysis, capacity planning and system sizing. * Work closely with customers, application development and other DBA teams to ensure that stringent back-up, recovery and replication strategies are developed, tested, implemented and maintained for development and production database environments. Ensure that strategies allow for data recovery in accordance with agreed upon service levels.
