One is more SQL Server Development and one is more SQL Server DB Administration. Please take a look at both descriptions. SQL Server Database Developers: For a large scale system. Position is focused on building and enhancing physical and logical database objects as part of application development team. Must have proven experience with large scale, secure enterprise applications. Responsible for implementing features and ensuring database performance, integrity, and scalability. Must be well versed in data life-cycle management. Works with data architects to ensure integrity of data models and database structural design. Primary Tools: SQL 2008 R2, SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Performance Monitoring and Optimization, Visual Studio 2010, Team Foundation Server 2010. Participate in design and development activities for new application databases, release level development, and support of existing application databases and components (SQL, stored procedures, triggers, etc.). Responsibilities • Work with application development teams to build and enhance physical and logical database objects • Deploy these objects in a highly-available environment with minimal downtime • Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, SSIS packages, SQL Server Agent jobs, and other code as required • Monitor database performance and resource use • Modify database as required to meet performance and resource utilization goals • Create and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting services • Create and maintain SSIS packages for data ETL • Create and maintain test environments for the development team • Contribute to physical configuration of database clusters and disaster recovery strategies • Meet deadlines in a rapid release cycle Experience: • 5+ years experience with SQL Server administration and T-SQL development • Proficient with full lifecycle relational database development • Hands on experience with Stored Procedures, Triggers, SSIS, SSRS and SQL tuning and upgrading • Experience creating and modifying database objects on high volume • Experience optimizing and troubleshooting performance problems on SQL Server 2005/2008 • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment • Experience with high transaction or large size database development and support • Strong logical and physical database design skills • Knowledge of statistical concepts and methods preferred • Meet deadlines in a rapid release cycle SQL SERVER DBA Microsoft Certified Database Administrator SQL Server 2000 (MCDBA) Preferred . For a large scale system. Position is focused on refinement of system performance, scalability, and data management. Must have proven experience with large scale, secure Enterprise applications. Responsible for improving database performance and scalability. Must be well versed in data life-cycle management. Serves as the lead technical resource in the strategic oversight and planning of data models and database structural design and development. Oversees the design, evaluation, selection, implementation and support of major databases and metadata structures; reviews and evaluates database performance, risk and financial analysis feasibility studies.
