Candidate must be local : Yes Job Description : GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborates on the full technical lifecycle from architecture to support of CAH data environment specifically focused on MS-SQL. Responsible for the establishment, implementation, support and administration of Cardinal Health Information Technology SQL Server Instances/Databases. SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Extensively analyzes, maintains and documents complex relational database structures to ensure successful implementation as well as optimal performance. Works cohesively with a small team of SQL Server DBAs in pursuit of database optimization, standardization and scalability according to accepted industry and Cardinal Health best practices. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education or Equivalent: BS in computer or related field. Qualifications / Skills Requirements: 7+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA. Able to work with minimal supervision Strong customer service and conflict management skills. Database Security & Integrity Optimizing database access and performance Developing & Maintaining Database Disaster Recovery Procedures Architecting, Implementation & Monitoring of Database Maintenance Plans & Overall Instance/Database performance Ensuring Standardized Administration practices are implemented Ensuring all Administration Practices facilitate scalability Provide thorough functional and technical evaluation of Database related products, as well as Database & Service Pack upgrades Provide technical assistance to Commodity Computing & Application Teams for all production database related issues or difficulties Develop and maintain Database Replication between Disparate Platforms Provide Database Clustering/High Availability Support Provide Database Technical Support for Development Teams Mentor and coach junior team members on specific projects, as well as database administration & development practices Handle interactions with clients and project prioritization and scheduling Ability to multi-task Good co-ordination and organization skills Strong oral and written communication skills Required Skills: Good understanding of administration and supporting MSSQL (2015-2019), PostgreSQL Database technologies. Bachelors in related field, or equivalent work experience 8+ years combined experience as a DBA and/or Database Developer 5+ years administering SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL 5+ years experience in two or more of the following SQL programming flavors: T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, PL/SQL, SQL PL (DB2) 3+ years experience in two of more of the following programming languages preferred: Powershell, Linux/Unix shell scripting, Python, Perl Solid knowledge in advanced DB concepts such as High Availability/Disaster Recovery patterns, remote/offsite backup, and query and index tuning, and cloud native DB-as-a-Service (GCP Cloud SQL and/or AWS RDS), and capacity planning required Solid ability to perform advanced troubleshooting, benchmarking, data collection, configuration tuning for issue resolution required History of developing automation to facilitate DBA tasks required Proven track record of leading initiatives, projects, and/or team members required Operations/support background highly preferred History in implementing process improvement, agile, and lean highly preferred Data modelling experience preferred   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
