The ideal candidate will understand how to structure solutions into kernel computations and design abstractions and algorithms that can easily be retargeted and optimized to the underlying architecture. Risk Management operates multiple, independent grid-enabled simulation platforms to forecast cash flows of financial instruments. The platforms are based on different technologies and their primary applications vary in complexity across different simulation dimensions such as number of scenarios, number of stochastic terms, number of financial instruments, etc. *The runtime complexity is a major challenge for each platform and requires a seasoned computer sciences professional to optimize computational algorithms and work on improving workload balance to address pure space-time tradeoffs. * The independent, disparate nature of the platforms is a challenge to compare or compile results in a common framework for the business. Migrating function to a technology agnostic framework will enable sharing computations across the platforms and produce consistent results for comparison. Due to the market- and time-sensitive nature of the underlying applications and their criticality to the business, the software development professional pursued must have 7-10 years experience in designing and implementing software solutions in complex environments, preferably in the financial service industry or have a proven track record on a similar application in a similar business environment. Specifically, the candidate must have a proven, extensive background in designing system abstractions that support software and system evolution. These purposeful abstractions must enable efficient retargeting of the analytic capabilities to other parts of the business. Risk Management is expanding its analytic capabilities to other parts of the insurance, annuities, asset management, and fund management business and needs the analytic platform to quickly adapt to the new requirements. The abstractions must also enable a quick adaptation to requirements generated from things learned from market events. The abstractions must also support an implementation that can be optimized to take advantage of the underlying technology while maintaining a level of independence to allow for portable code. The candidate will need to have an extensive track record in hands-on implementation of robust code in a C# .NET framework and optimized code in native C/C++. The candidate must also have formal education or extensive experience in designing efficient computational algorithms and data structures that consider space-time tradeoffs.
