It touches on aspects of physical movement of merchandise, data recording and archival systems, and algorithms for replenishment, and website visibility/availability. There are countless number of problems where machine learning can have an impact in being smarter, simpler, and reactive. The end results being a better user experience, cost efficiencies, and bottom line profits. Machine learning in this environment is not without its challenges. Data must be pulled from many archival systems and stitched together. No two stores are the same, with variability in supply/demand patterns, and service from distribution centers. We seek solutions to problems consisting of 30+ million products, across 5000+ stores; a daunting task. Our first problem is to predict availability in stores for online orders. Your responsibility is in the entire lifecycle of product development from research investigation to production deployment, monitoring, and evaluation. Requirements: BS + 5yrs of experience or MS + 3yrs of experience. Expertise in computer science, big-data, statistics, and machine learning. A formal degree in at least one of these areas, and work experience in the others. Scala + Spark are a requirement. Bonus for experience in hierarchical models, random effect models, and online learning. Less application for deep learning, and NLP solutions.
